MTV Networks and Microsoft have announced plans to join forces to develop a new digital 
music service. Called Urge and due to launch in 2006, the service will be integrated into a new version of Microsoft's Windows Media Player and promoted across all of the MTV, VH1 and CMT family of channels. Plans call for Urge to offer more than 2 million tracks for download from both major labels and independents as well as original content from MTV.
