New Details Emerge On Broadband Instruments’ Player And Store

Wired is reporting some new details about the much rumored Broadband Instruments portable music player and download store. Run by experienced digital music executives, B.I. expects to announce a next generation player/store combo within the next two months.

Some details: "The device will feature wireless connectivity, a new type of integration with online radio stations, a social aspect and most likely some sort of automatic customization feature for recommending new music…some details could change between now and the product launch".

"Offering an easy way to share your music experience with friends and
others is also important. Music technology should enhance the music
listening and discovery process, not impede it," the company wrote in an email.

Clearly Broadband Instruments hopes to create an iPod killer.  Understanding the pitfalls of current technologies and restrictions demanded by rights holders is a huge start. Overcoming them is a far more difficult task. But if the get it just right…
