P2P Use Continues To Rise …

An average of 9.3 million people per day log onto file-sharing networks worldwide. That’s up from 7 million in 2004 according to research firm Big Champagne. Approximately a billions songs are traded online every month.

At the same time music sales have fallen 17% from a peak in 2000 of $12.7 billion.

There is probably a correlation, but even if you could (and the RIAA may have found a way); what purpose is served by suing 9.3 million people?

  1. In today’s world, consumer is king. They choose how and when they want their content. This is old news and the industry needs to stop regressing. Anyone else see the obvious correlation of the increasing in lawsuits each year to the decrease in sales over the past few years in the music industry?

  2. no i don’t see any ‘obvious’ correlation, as the lawsuits started after sales started plummeting – i’m not defending the lawsuits, but when will people like peter stop defending theft

  3. Defend Theft? That is not what I said and that is libel. Next time do your research before you make slanderous statements regarding others Bill S.
