The Pretenders Go 2.0 To Market New Release

Pretenders_2 Steve Bing funded and Jeff Ayeroff led Shangri-La Music is taking full advantage of the spectrum of music 2.0 release opportunities for the roll out of "Break Up The Concrete", the first new Pretenders album since 2002.

The label is launching an "MP3 Countdown" campaign with a new free download from the album available each week on different site. The first, “Boots of Chinese Plastic”  is now available on AOL’s Spinner.com. In subsequent weeks free songs will be available through Apple QuickTime’s site, ClearChannel.com...

CMT.com, iLike, iMeem, MP3.com/Download.com, MSN Windows Media, Vh1 Classic, Yahoo and CBS Radio Online. Fans can find the next MP3's location on the band's web site.

Former A&M and Geffen executive Ayeroff states, “The oldest and most basic form of exposing music is through word of mouth and the newest way is through the internet. This campaign combines both word of mouth and the muscle of 11 major online media partners."
