Oct. 20-26: Seth Godin Tribes Week On Hypebot

TRIBES WEEK ON HYPEBOT HAS BEGUN HERE.  DON’T MISS MY EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH SETH ON HYPEBOT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.Tribes_2

Along with our regular news and commentary, we’ll be delving into Seth Godin‘s just released book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us and some of its implications for artists, labels and the music industry. Godin is an outspoken marketing guru and prolific author whose passion for music is almost as great as his passion for marketing in our post-tv, post-advertising, internet connected, socially networked age.

Together we’ll explore Seth’s new book on the need for Tribes (aka
passionate, active supporters), as well as, how to build and lead them.
We’ll look at some success stories and have some fun with a contest
that gives you the chance to share your favorite Tribe building
techniques, technologies and stories.

Seth has also agreed to an exclusive interview that looks at Tribes
from a fan building and "artist as leader perspective". I’ve got some
thoughts, but what do you think?

WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I ASK SETH GODIN?

  1. Bruce, you read what was on my mind. Once my copy comes in the mail I’ll get back to you with some questions.

  2. Here’s my question:
I feel like I have unintentionally created a Tribe of sorts in my sphere. Where can I get some advice on practical ways to monetize the tribe? At the same time, I don’t want it to feel “commercial” to the tribe, as that would turn them off, and yet… maybe that’s the next book? are there “tribe coaches”?

  3. maybe “tribe LEADER coach” would be more in line… any tips/thoughts on monetize-ing the tribe without losing them or feeling like your leadership is too pragmatic?

  4. I’d ask Seth to outline the strategies HE will be using to minimise the effects of the much heralded recession on his day to day business
