Nashville Feels The Pain: Equity Music Group Folds

Clint_black
Equity Music Group, the label co-founded by country superstar Clint Blank is folding. The last couple of years have not been kind to country music and now declining sales and the economic downturn are stating to take their toll on Music Row. In addition to Black, Equity artists looking for a new home include Laura Bryna, Carolina Rain, Kevin Fowler and Blake Wise.

"Our investors tried to find a way to keep the doors open at Equity, but with a struggling industry, an overall decline in discretionary spending by consumers and a total freeze on credit markets, the Board of Directors has been forced to make this difficult decision." said label president Tim Wipperman.
