  1. I think automated services such as this completely NEGATE the entire point of social networks, which is networking…you know, socially. Anyone who can say “automate” and “social” in the same sentence without choking must be in denial.
The reason there are a seemingly infinite number of different social networks is because they all cater to a different niche; they all take advantage of a different nuance of what is important to us in social networking. Thus, to treat them all equally and to use them all in the exact same way is to completely miss the point.
Instead of trying to find shortcuts to success, why don’t we focus on creating thoughtful strategies around what we do, and then WORK OUR BUTTS OFF to implement those plans in powerful ways.
The thing is, those who bust their butts to succeed in the music business right now will reap the benefits. Those who try to find a one-push button to ostensibly fulfill what the industry currently will remain where they’ve always stood.
Using an automated social networking service is only fooling yourself (AND your fans) into believing you are participating when you are doing anything but. And what are the two rules of social media? 1) Participation is mandatory and 2) Transparency is king.

  2. Ridiculous, Andrew. Hopefully, your favorite band has more creative things to do with their time (like making music, mebe)than sit around and tweet “fans” all day. And, hopefully, you can try something creative, like, getting off the WWW and hitting a concert, or buying a record – mebe.

  3. I think that “Losungen” is right too. I work with electronic music production and have no time manage all my social networks. And this is not an out of respect with fans. Think… If me a little brazilian producer have no time… Imagine someone like Madonna, for exemple…
I think this way is better than pay a nerd called “marketing” that do this for you… LOL.
Its still more closer to fans if you use a tool like that. And you can reach a bigger range of your public.
But I agree with you that the artist must take care on what social network he gonna use, there is lots today with different purposes and the riht niches.
    Hugs from Brazil! =D
    Success to us all!!
