Genro.tv Encourages Fan Created “Official” Videos With Contests And Community

Artists and labels are partnering with the just launched Genero.tv to enourage fans to create official music videos for featured songs.  By funding contests and prizes instead of a video budget, the participants are hoping to create viral buzz, as well as snag a creative video at a lower cost.

"For our featured artists it’s a new way to connect with fans and a new platform for getting their official music videos made," states the site manifesto. "For video creators you’ll have a chance to make the official videos for our featured songs as well as winning some great prizes. And for fans the music we feature is there because we like it so hopefully we’ll be able to help you discover some great new artists along the way."
