The New Music Industry’s Week In Review

I'm headed to LA for the New Music Seminar on Tuesday. Tickets will be available at the door and I hope to see you there. Please grab me in the halls for an intro.

Much of the action in the music industry this week took place in Cannes, France at the MIDEM international music conference. Hypebot was there:

• Attendance was down 13%, but many new features were a hit with attendees.
• Spotify shared some serious growth stats.
• A major global music consumption survey was released.
• Topspin announced major partnerships and a UK office.
• Music DNA showcased a rival to the mp3. Plus PIAS, RightsFlow and Seymour Stein all made major announcements.
• Interviewed: Amanda Palmer,  MySpace CEO VanNatta & Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz 
• Digital distributor IODA added partners in classical music. China and digital marketing.
• 3 MIDEM rumors: No Spotify for the U.S.?, a Zune Phone and MOG expansion.
