Not only will a rotating all-star cast of opening acts including Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills and Nash, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy and others join him for the concerts, but he's giving every fan who buys a ticket to one of the shows on their summer tour a free digital copy of "Mojo", their first new album in five years.

Two songs from the new album, "First Flash of Freedom" and "Good Enough" will be available for download as soon as convert tickets are purchased, and then the rest of the album will be available to concert goers free when it's released on June 15. As a bonus, select live tracks will  given away after the tour.

and could be a bow to tough times both is recorded music sales and the
overall economy. The effort is powered by Live Nation Merchandise and  is the kind of cross promotion that the concert giant promised when merging with Ticketmaster.

  1. He is not giving his music away for “free.” He is giving them away with the purchase of what will likely be very expensive concert tickets. BIG difference.

  2. I still think this is a step in the right direction. Anything closer to recordings being given away for dirt cheap or included with what people are still actually paying for is a help.

  3. Yes, $90+ tickets so I think this more shows that TP’s management (which has been somewhat forward thinking over the years) is trying to maintain a sense of fairness while still understanding the current nature of music and the economy.

  4. It’s a nice gesture. More value for the same (enormous) ticket price.
