BBC 6Music Is Saved

image from www.lucyhenson.com (UPDATED) This morning, the BBC Trust announced their decision to save BBC 6Music.  Sir Michael Lyons, Chairman of the Trust, shared the group's conclusions of their recent review in a statement saying that "the case has not been made for the closure of 6 Music".

Musicians and the music industry had lobbied aggressively to save the indie music dominated broadcast outlet that many say has been responsible for breaking many new artists.

  1. Great news. BBC 6 Music is absolutely the paradigm for making radio work in the digital age, as can be witnessed by the strength and vigor of the listeners’ campaign to save it. Name me one radio station over here that has doubled its listenership in three months! If anyone in radio over here were smart enough to copy the 6 Music format lock, stock and barrel, they could take the continent!
