Visits to MySpace UK Down 50% In 6 Just Months

The number of visitors to MySpace UK  is reportedly down 50% from 10 million to 5 million in the last six months. The drop has lead to a fresh round of layoffs at the London office.

In an attempt to hide the decline, TechCrunch Europe is reporting that MySpace  has been  buying cheap Google keyword ads to “generate dirty traffic”  that raises  any publicly accessible stats like comScore. According to their sources, Facebook is ironically now the third biggest referrer of traffic to MySpace UK.

  1. I’m shocked that myspace has squandered the one thing they did well, music. WHile not perfect they still have an edge on the other social networks in this regard.
It would be easier to fix what is so terribly wrong with their platform in comparison to the effort they must extend to generate “dirty traffic”. It’s not the first time a market leader lost its edge and fell flat. Still, they could have captured some much value from the 7 million plus bands they have on that site. Will the last myspace user please turn out the lights as they exit.
