Epic Records President Amanda Ghost Exits. Hypebot Readers Predicited It 18 Months Ago

image from www.hypebot.com After less than 2 years, Epic Records president Amanda Ghost is leaving the Sony Music label "to concentrate on her own songwriting and production work". No successor has been named. Hypebot readers predicted that Ghost would not last at Epic in a poll taken in February of 2009 when she was appointed.

Ghost had not been the most obvious choice to replace Charlie Walk at Epic. Known primarily as a songwriter (She's written songs that sold 25 million records like James Blunt’s "You are Beautiful"; Beyoncé & Shakira’s “Beautiful Liar” and  Jordin Sparks “‘Tattoo.), Hypebot readers voted 2 to 1 that Epic hiring an artist to run the label was more of a public relations move than a smart business decision.

”I'm not a conventional choice as an executive in the music business, but it is testament to the new mood at Sony where content is now king and the music business is being put back in the hands of creative talent such as myself," said Ghost at the time.
