Can a bank effectively run a record label and publishing company?

They say the record labels used to be the "banks" of the old music industry business model. It looks like the banks will be the banks of the new model.

Yet, I guess the answer to your question depends on whether the bank is looking to earn money either by selling parts of a label right away or by first nurturing the label back into profit and selling it then or whether they will just use the label as a bait for potential investors to make money by financing the purchase of the label for these investors. In the latter case, the potential investors risk being drowned in the same debt as Terra Firma.
