MusixShare Helps Support Social Causes With Music

image from a0.twimg.com MusixShare is a brand-new startup that enables artists to pair up with social causes. When fans purchase music through the site, a portion of that sale goes to a designated cause or charity. As well, artists can come together to create digital cause compilations. This way, both artists and fans can collaborate to support timely and specific causes in need.

The first compellation through the site features several San Francisco Bay artists to support the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society who are focused on rebuilding after a destructive fire earlier this year. “Still Standing” contains tracks from acts such as Luce, Maurice Tani, and Karmacoda; it can be purchased here. The goal of new music cause startup is to "Make the world a better place through music."

  1. Cool site – it seems a lot like Brite Revolution… http://www.briterevolution.com. They are more about raising awareness than supporting causes financially, though — and there’s a BUNCH of new music every week.
Love supporting causes and getting new music!

  2. This site is a lot like BriteRevoltion.com but we take it a step further and combine music discovery with the charity element. The site is 100% free to join and you can download 100s of free songs. The goal is to build awareness and a community of music lovers and monetize down the road. Check it out.

  3. BriteRevolution does have some similarities to MusixShare, and definitely anyone that gives back, supports causes, while promoting music & musicians I’m a fan of!
MusixShare has some exciting things coming in early 2011. We’ll be releasing additional Cause Compilations (our focus vs. music discovery) and some exciting new features for artists as well.
In fact helping artists while supporting specific and timely causes is what we’re all about!
I don’t think there has ever been a more exciting time for artists and companies in the music (and technology) industry. Although I know there are many from the old paradigm that would not agree!
