Break Through The Noise Or Be The Noise – Your Last Tweet Was 1 Out of 25 Billion Others

image from www.wired.com As an artist, it's easy to lose confidence and convince yourself that you're lost in the mix.

Why bother?

No one is paying attention anyways.

Last year, that tweet you sent out was just 1 out of the 25 billion others sent.

Your newsletter was 1 out of 107 trillion emails that landed in people's inboxes.

Your website, with its beautiful landing page, is 1 just out of 255 million.

There are 1.97 billion internet users worldwide. Are they your fans?

Your blog is 1 out of 152 million. Does it have comments?

There are 600 million users on Facebook.

How many 'Liked' the new song that you posted?

And do you remember that music video that you convinced a few film students to record for free? It's still sitting on YouTube, waiting to be seen. Waiting to go viral.

But will it be 1 of the 2 billion videos that are watched per day on YouTube?

Maybe.

That's 2010 in a nutshell.

Break through the noise. Or be the noise.

It's your choice.

What will you do to get heard in 2011?

  1. Doesn’t matter how much other noise there is out there if you’re reaching your intended audience. These numbers mean nothing to this 1 out of 6,893,300,000 humans.

  2. “There are 1.97 billion internet users worldwide.”
That’s a lot of people. How could you be discouraged by that??
152 million blogs out there = 152 million potential sites to have your music featured on.
    2011 Let’s get it!

  3. What do you mean “what will you do”? That’s why I was reading this. Instead you tell me how insignificant I am and then ask me what I’m going to do about it. If I knew I wouldn’t be reading your ridiculous post.

  4. I think it’s meant to be an encouraging stat to get you thinking and plotting your evil plan for musically dominating the internet. I guess, basically, start getting creative 😀
