Pure Discovery Isn’t A Business Model [VIDEO]

image from dja.reawaken.co.uk Scion's Music(Less) Music Conference has posted several great videos that explore the dynamic between A&R and music bloggers. In theory, bloggers perform the discovery function that's been long attributed to A&R. They, however, don't possess the power of a label in helping an artist. Further blurring the lines, several bloggers have founded their own indie record labels. To this day, the mythology of being discovered by an A&R rep standing in the back of a bar is powerful. Today though, it's much more likely that a blogger will bring your music to a wider audience first, which then catches attention of an A&R rep. Watch the great discussion unfold below:

  1. Frankly…I think music bloggers have way more credibility and openness to artists than A&R folks are capable of these days.

  2. Social networkings do great impact in any fields nowadays. Businesses create blogs for the public appearance of their business. It is such a great help for them to gain more clients.
