"The less effort it takes to build a music collection, the less we might value it."

I used to think this way too when I was nostalgia about the CD buying days (before I reluctantly got my first iPod). Massive collections are great if you can just as easily search, curate, and save favorites from that collection. The bigger the collection the better the data around each track needs to be so you can sort through it all.
