Why Music Keeps Us Coming Back For More

image from universitydude.com "Music itself can be identified as a language. Every language has structure, each with a set of grammatical rules put into place for correct communication. Yet beyond structure music also has the ability to create feelings and emotions without a verbal context. Music, like words, has the ability to make us cry, enlighten and transcend us. By alternating the pitch, rhythm and tempo, we are subsequently intrigued by these violations in communicating through music, which leaves us coming back for more." – Vanessa Wheeler, SoundCtrl

  1. Great thoughts, but I would have liked you to go deeper. i.e. what melodic twists and rhythmic alterations you’ve found to be most effective in evoking emotion and got people coming back. I know that’s completely subjective, but I’d like to hearing your opinions on such things. But I couldn’t agree more with what you’ve written.

  2. Brilliantly written article, very insightful. Is there a place we can find the full article, because I’m sure there is more to read besides the blurb we see above? Thanks
