#SXSW – Topspin To Launch Open Platform, RCRD DEALS with Downtown’s RCRD LBL

image from www.digitalmusicnews.com During their first weekly webcast on Friday, Topspin CEO Ian Roger shared that the service would open to all artists next Wednesday along with some significant upgrades. On Thursday Topspin will announce a partnership with Downtown's RCRD LBL dubbed RCRD DEALS. The new program will offer limited-time discount pricing on exclusive music products and experiences like box sets, concert packages and one-off items.

More details of the partnership will be announced at an exclusive SXSW event at the Driskill Hotel on Thursday, March 17th from 6-8 PM.

A New Open Topspin

While used by hundreds of musicians from Paul McCartney to unknown bands over the last 36 months, Topspin had been previously invite only. With plans starting at $9.99 per month plus15% of sales, any artist will now be able to access the full array of Topspin features which include tools for both fan acquisition and direct sales.

“We’ve learned so much working with thousands of artists over the past three years,” Rogers told Hypebot last month when first revealing the platform. “The only thing more exciting than the new features we’re rolling out in March is being able to bring those features to every artist on the planet.”

  1. Completely agree. Great people at the company, but their software platform is really sub-par. Setting up “offers” is very cumbersome and glitch filled. I’m also a bit surprised that the marketing piece is not more robust either. Work in progress for sure.
