Limelight Answers Prince On Cover Songs [VIDEO]

Despite the millions of dollars that he's made from people covering his hits, Prince believes there should only be one version of his – or anyone else's – song.  As you might imagine, the team at song clearance service Limelight disagree and share why in this short video:

  1. Nope I agree with Prince.. People shouldn’t gain success over re-do’ing something that someone has already had successful. Where is the creativity that they speak of.

  2. No art is new. If you think your doing something completely original, you are wrong. Frank Sinatra described himself as a “singer of popular songs.” There is little difference between what he did and somebody covering another artists work. Prince is a smart guy, but some of his ideas like this one, and what he said about the internet are completely ridiculous.
