Google Translate Inspires Both YouTube Hit and Beatboxing Tool

Google Translate was originally created by the internet giant to lower language barriers and make global web content more easily accessible.  But in yet another testimony to the power of Google's free and open API's, several inventive artists have been inspired to use Google Translate to create music and in one case invent a genre.

The first use translates a string of consonants into German to create a new beatboxing tool. The phrase “pv zk bschk” doesn't make sense, but a quick listen you'll appreciate the ingenuity.

It's far from fine art, but there's also apparently a mini-movement in Taiwan that uses the spoken output of Google Translate as the vocals for self-composed songs and video spoofs. Recently, the “Google Translate Song” surpassed a half million views and became one of the most popular YouTube videos in Taiwan this month.
