If you've been wishing you could get your Bjork on, now you can with a Songpier mobile web app for every song on your next album. Songpier does not offer native apps like those available on iTunes, instead they allow you to create an HTML5 mobile web app that is viewable on a variety of smartphones and desktops. Though you may not be winning awards for app design and you can't really sell the darn things, you will be getting into the game despite lacking a crew of programmers!
Songpier Explanation
With a recent deal with The Orchard, free mobile web app creator Songpier is set for a higher level of attention Stateside. Apps are designed to feature a single song along with additional content from lyrics to pics to merchandise. Apparently the additional content can be updated but the music cannot so, no, Songpier can't provide a mobile app with updating music or make you an app for your full album.
Evolvor's Eliot Van Buskirk took Songpier for a guest run and was positively impressed, sending his apologies to Mobile Roadie. He found the app as "easy to build as a MySpace page."
If you're wanting to get into the mobile app game and have a song you'd like to debut or feature in this manner, Songpier sounds like an easy way to get started. Since you only get one song per app, you might want to feature all your content on that song or, if you're using the song/app to promote a tour or album, featuring content focused on that goal would be most productive.
