Musicians Can Do Well By Doing Good With Downtime Facebook App

Downtime-logo Downtime is an effort to encourage musicians to take some of their "downtime" and support a good cause. Downtime's Facebook app facilitates musician involvement by connecting individual musicians to appropriately scaled activities from cosigning an effort to getting more directly involved.

What is Downtime?

Downtime's first offering is a Facebook app featuring the band's chosen cause that will eventually lead to a page on Downtime's site as well. For example, GROUPLOVE's Facebook app is building support for Little Kids Rock and requesting donations.

Downtime is designed to make it easy for bands to get involved, even matching them with causes if needed.

Bands using Downtime include Manchester Orchestra, Anberlin, Mayday Parade, Grouplove, Hey Monday, Butch Walker, Sleeping at Last, The Starting Line, We The Kings, AWOLNATION, Charlotte Sometimes, Kevin Devine, Matthew Mayfield, Aaron Gillespie, Feather & Belle and Zach Williams and the Bellow.

Charities involved to date include I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, Little Kids Rock!, Roots and Wings, International Justice Mission, Compassion International, Samaritan's Purse, Restore NYC, ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, Falling Whistles, and the Humane Society of US.

  1. I really like the idea behind this app. There are a lot of great org.’s out there that need help.
I would strongly encourage all musicians and others in the music world to partner with a cause that they are really passionate about. It can be a win-win for the musician, as well as, the organization.
    Thanks Clyde!
