RockStar Motel Opens Platform To Fans & Bands

Rockstar-motelRockStar Motel leaves beta today in the US, UK and Canada. The social network with game elements features a fan signing band approach in which fans are encouraged to become superfans via in-network recognition.

RockStar Motel is an innovative site with the core challenge ahead of reaching a critical mass of users who appreciate the opportunity to support musicians by promoting them within a social network setting.  CEO Luca Sacchetti is hoping to unveil a platform that will directly connect fans and bands.  It launches with sharper design than was initially evident at a time when design is of increasing importance.

RockStar Motel is now available for independent musicians to set up accounts and make their content available in-house. RockStar Motel is also launching with additional ways to feature musicians and fans.

A network feed across all accounts promotes new artist signups for a 24 hour period. A chart feature for superfans will promote top fans giving them additional recognition across the network.

RockStar Motel has also developed a new networking feature for public launch that draws on fan analytics and identifies fans that might be a good match for particular music acts. While RockStar Motel struck me as a company that was trying to find creative ways to limit spam, they also seem to be finding positive ways to connect people that might be a good fit.

RockStar Motel is an example of a new platform for promoting music that faces formidable challenges with a great deal of growth potential if successful.

  1. I agree, a video or tutorial would be helpful. But it is probably coming soon. I signed up for an account. It is still in beta so not quite ready to use. I like the concept of signing and promoting bands. Could be great for local artists and local music scenes. It wouldn’t let me upload an artist so not quiet sure of its of capabilities. Will keep it on the radar.

  2. Hi Kevin and Matt,
In short, we give fans an incentive and the tools to promote their favorite artists, and allows fans to take more ownership of their music. Much like a fantasy football roster, fans have a limited roster of bands they “sign”and rep. Fans are then rewarded for the successful promotion of these bands.
It helps level the playing field for artists, and then also gives artists actionable data that will help steer them to new fans. A lot of our artist tools will be rolling out throughout October and November.
Here is is a link to a quick video tutorial, it is from the perspective of a Fan.

We’ll have the artist version up by the end of the week. I’ll make sure to post it here. We’re also going to be adding a lot more features for artists.
Let me know if you have any questions. (I’m on the Marketing Team.)
    Cheers,
    Emily
