SoundHound: Delivering 1000 Songs Per Second Music Discovery

Music discovery app SoundHound has released stats that show it processing more than 4 million music searches per day and user engagement of more more than 1,000 hits per second.

The traffic comes from a reported user base of base 50 million worldwide on iOS and Android.  Competitors include Shazam.

SoundHound upgraded its apps earlier this month to include features like LiveLyrics, song and artist recommendation and sharing capabilities. In the 30-day period ending Oct. 20, 2011, SoundHound says that its servers registered 25 million to 35 million hits per day with peak traffic at over 2 million hits per hour. The new metrics in 2011 represent a tenfold increase in usage since 2010.
