VibeDeck Adds $12 Per Year Premium Services

image from www.google.comFree music sales platform VibeDeck is adding premium services which users can subscribe to on an à la carte basis. SoundScan reporting,  pre-orders and track teasers (previews instead of full streams) are now live for $12 per year each. Others like premium themes will be launched in the coming weeks.

VibeDeck's basic free service allows sale and giveaway of digital music via a customizable embeddable  widgets for Facebook, SoundCloud and YouTube.  VibeDeck doesn't take a cut of sales or process payments. Instead, payments flow directly into the user’s PayPal account so that funds, as well as  transaction data, are immediately available.

“We see our premium features as building blocks which allow our users to take an iterative approach to creating their VibeDeck accounts, as opposed to upgrading to an all-in Pro membership,” said Lior Shamir, the company’s Co-Founder & CEO, adding, "The free base service and we-don’t-take-a-cut-promise will not change.”

  1. $12/Year? You can’t run a business on that, and people will be pretty inelastic between $12/year to $3-5/month, they both when framed correctly sound cheap, but the latter makes a big difference to your bottom line, so long as your product doesn’t suck resulting in a terrible retention rate.

  2. Exactly. When the company JibJab changed their price from $9.99/yr to $1/month they actually skyrocketed in premium memberships (despite having a higher cost, there was a lower perceived commitment).
