Kyle Bylin Exits Billboard, Joins BigChampagne + Live Nation Team

Live-Nation_-BigChampagneJust weeks after Live Nation acquired influential media measurement firm BigChampagne, the live concert promoter has announced another major talent grab: Kyle Bylin.

Hypebot readers know Bylin from this blog, where he served as Editor and a leading music industry and technology analyst that elevated this publication from a news site to a place of in-depth analysis and editorial. He went on to become the Social/Streaming Chart Manager and regular columnist at Billboard Magazine, and has now left to join Live Nation and BigChampagne.

Details of his new position remain under wraps, but Hypebot has learned that Bylin will spearhead development and evolution of the Ultimate Chart and related content strategy at LiveNation.com, as well as thought-leadership and analysis at Live Nation Labs.

“The feedback loop in popular culture is broken,” Bylin told Hypebot in an email interview. “A fan holds little connection to their actions and the chart movements of their favorite artists. With the next evolution of Ultimate Chart, we’re going to mobilize fans to participate in the successes of their favorite artists and empower them to share their part of the larger story.”

Bylin joins high-profile hires including Ethan Kaplan, the former SVP of Emerging Technology at Warner Music Group and now VP of Product for LiveNation.com, as well as BigChampagne founders Eric Garland and Joe Fleischer.

The team is also aggressively seeking additional talent — from mobile/web engineers and designers to video and content producers — to staff their new division within Live Nation (inquiries at jobs@livenationlabs.com).

With Kaplan and Bylin now on board, and given the resources at hand, there will surely be ripples felt in the live music business as we head deeper into 2012.

Stay tuned.
