image from www.google.com(UPDATE) Top ranked audio and video distributor Alliance Entertainment has acquired direct to fan fulfillment leader Audiolife. No details of the acquisition were disclosed. But with this deal alongside their new partnership to make CD Baby's vast catalog available to retail, Alliance has doubled down on a bet that servicing music's long tail can be profitable.

As part of the acquisition,, Audiolife's founders and management team will continue to operate out of its Los Angeles, CA base, while its fulfillment operations will be moved to Alliance's Shepherdsville, KY facility.

Three year old Audiolife has served over 300,000 clients including individual artists and companies including Topspin, ReverbNation and LMFAO's Party Rock clothing line. Topspin has confirmed they will continue to use the combined company to fulfill orders for physical goods, but has added a 50 cent surcharge.

UPDATE: ReverbNation has also confirmed they will keep their D2F fullfillment with Alliance.

Alliance Entertainment began as a one-stop and distribution source for music retailers, but has consistently expanded it's offerings.  Two operating units – The Distribution & Fulfillment Services Group and the Information Services Group – deliver a range of commerce solutions, from distribution and fulfillment to infrastructure for both brick-and-mortar and web retailers.
