The digital format has made the barriers to entry a level playing field, so true quality music tends to be drowned out by the sheer volume of garbage. And you know what they say about s*it floating to the top. Music is far more disposable and forgettable today, or maybe there's just more of it than ever and you don't have to seek out the physical version to consume and dispose of it. Of course, we have far more music to choose from now than ever. A lot of it isn't just throwaway, but you have to know what you like and what you're looking for. That's why where you purchase your music is still important. For me, websites and retailers are critical in separating the disposable from the enjoyable and long lasting.
