OurStage Launches Unique Revenue Sharing Program For Musicians

Ourstage_logo_dotcomFA_RGB1Music discovery and social platform has announced OurStage Pro, a new membership service that pays artists for song spins through a rather unique revenue sharing program. Pro allows artists to get paid when fans listen to their music on, on their own site, or on social media. For $2 dollars per month, artists become OurStage Pro members and begin promoting their music on the website and through an embeddable player provided by the company to monetize their work.

Whenever fans listen to the artist's songs on or via their remote player, any song that gets played at least 90% of the way through counts toward the artist’s overall stream count. Any artist registered for OurStage Pro is also eligible for licensing opportunities, and fans of Pro members can help fund those artists with a direct donation tool

Every month, a Pro artists’ qualified spin counts are compared to each other, and there is a tiered group payout based on which artists have the most spins. The company says that the number of spins needed to land in the four different tiers will change from month to month, depending on how many total spins there are for all registered OurStage Pro artists. The money for the payout comes from a pool that includes Pro registrants’ monthly fees, so in essence, the more artists that are signed up for OurStage Pro, the bigger the monthly payouts for artists.

“By getting people to listen to their songs, OurStage Pro artists have the ability to get paid,” says Jeff Kushmerek, EVP of Product. “And the more artists that sign up for OurStage Pro, the bigger the potential payouts can be.”
