Music Business

Goodbye Spin Magazine

image from bfazio.comIn case you missed it over the holidays, after a 27-year run, the publishers of Spin Magazine have announced that the print version of the publication will cease.

Spin joins the growing ranks of music magazines that also includes Vibe, Paste, Blender and others that have either shuttered or gone online.

While Spin will no longer be available in newstands, the publication has been increasing its online offerings. In July 2012, Spin was one of a number of properties acquired by BuzzMedia. Current subscribers will be offered Car & Driver magazine for the duration of their subscription, or a refund.

“Spin to us is more than a print magazine,” Tyler Goldman, Buzzmedia's CEO told the New York Times. “It’s a great media company for storytelling around music and music culture. People are using multiple platforms to consume more content and context from the brands they believe in, and we see the ability for Spin to bring more storytelling to digital platforms.” – via CelebrityAccess
