YouTube Stars Crossover: Lennon & Maisy At Grand Ole Opry, Lindsey Stirling Signs w/Troy Carter

Lennon-maisyAn increasingly wide range of musicians are building their initial audiences on YouTube. Some are video studio musicians while other perform live. But few labeled YouTube Stars have crossed over into the world beyond the web. Lennon and Maisy began that shift with roles on "Nashville" and now solidify their status with an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry while Lindsey Stirling has built on her huge YouTube success by signing a management deal with Troy Carter.

Lennon and Maisy Perform at the Grand Ole Opry

Though Lennon and Maisy got their first big hit on YouTube with a cover of Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend" inspired by Erato, they're now becoming widely known for appearing as sisters on the tv show "Nashville."

Still, with over 16 million views, their video cover of "Call Your Girlfriend" dwarfs any other video featuring the sisters that I can find on YouTube.

Nevertheless, they've just made a significant leap from YouTube and "Nashville" to the Grand Ole Opry with a cover of "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers that they originally performed in an episode of "Nashville." And that's a big step for two young ladies who seem increasingly well-positioned for country music stardom.

Lindsey Stirling Signs With Troy Carter & Atomic Factory

Lindsey Stirling tried to make it through a traditonal path but kept facing rejection. She then made her own way on YouTube with her violin versions of videogame theme songs racking up over 2 million subscribers and almost 300 million video views.

With an album, live tours and tv appearances, she's already crossed over from the land of video studio stars and now she's taken another potentially big step by signing a management deal with Troy Carter and Atom Factory.

Carter says he plans to build on her strengths and help build sales of her albums through new retail outlets but isn't planning a push to radio:

"What's interesting about this is she's getting more views on YouTube than you'd be able to get from radio or performing on TV. We're primarily focused on pushing things out through Lindsey's network…If we do pick up some stations along the way, that's totally great, but that's not what the plan is going to be built around."

Still typically identified as Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter now has the chance to help Lindsey Stirling crossover into the big time.
