10 Most Misquoted Song Lyrics Of All Time plus A Spotify Playlist

image from spotifypresscom.files.wordpress.comSpotify shared some "research" today revealing the top 10 misquoted song lyrics. Manfred Mann’s Earth Band’s "Blinded By The Light" took the top spot, with the most commonly misquoted lyric, ‘blinded
by the light…wrapped up like a douche when you're rollin’ in the night’.


Spotify asked music fans which songs
they most commonly hear people singing incorrectly and compiled a chart that
features a mix of classic and current tracks. According to those surveyed, The
Clash knew how to ‘rock the cat box’ while TLC pleaded ‘don’t go Jason
waterfalls’.

Hearing someone getting the lyrics
wrong is a source of great frustration to music fans, with a majority (70%) of
Americans surveyed admitting that it annoys them. The study ahowed that the
most annoying situation for a lyrical misdemeanor is at a gig (34%), followed
by at a karaoke bar (23%), on public transportation (20%), and even 18% hate
hearing misquoted lyrics in the office.

5% of Americans claim they never
get lyrics wrong, with almost half (47%) confessing they find it a bit
embarrassing to get caught singing the incorrect words.

Findings also revealed that Americans are
passionate about getting the words right with 78% saying they have had
arguments with friends, family or colleagues over incorrect lyrics. Various
methods of correcting a friend getting words wrong have been adopted with
everything from singing louder than them with the right words (48%), sending
someone a link to a lyrics website (22%) and even some that resort to changing
the track that is playing (5%).
