SoundHound’s iTunes Radio Integration Expands Streaming Music Service Connections

Soundhound-logoOn Friday SoundHound announced their iTunes Radio integration allowing iTunes radio to be launched from the SoundHound iOS app. Music identified by SoundHound will have the option to launch an iTunes Radio station inspired by that artist. The integration adds another useful element to a rich mix of features that includes additional integrations with Pandora, Spotify, Rdio and YouTube.

SoundHound is a music platform built around music recognition technology with many similarities to Shazam's bundle of features.

Just as messaging apps are birthing media platforms, music id apps are growing music platforms.

In October SoundHound updated its iOS app and introduced "My Map" for visual rediscovery of one's past SoundHound finds.

The new iTunes Radio integration is available to U.S. customers on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

"When a SoundHound user on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch identifies and discovers a song, they will see the iTunes Radio icon on the results page. When tapped, an iTunes Radio station will launch based on that artist. iTunes Radio stations will also be featured on the SoundHound home page carousel with the “Holiday Classics” station showcased in time for the holiday season. "

The iTunes Radio integration joins other services easily accessed via SoundHound such as YouTube, Pandora, Rdio and Spotify.

  1. Nice integration. I’m a spotify (and torch music) person, and I love having the ability to identify songs I hear. Not sure I care so much about the aded radio feature though.
