Connect With The Finnish Music Tech Startup Scene

Finnish-music-startups-logoMusic tech is a global phenomenon and, as Hypebot readers well know, it is in no way limited to streaming music services like Deezer or Earbits. This month Visionist launched an English language edition of the Finnish Music Startups collective's newsletter. The collective is a free-to-join organization intended, at least in part, to raise the profile of Finnish music tech startups. Currently 37 startups are listed on their page in English and they represent a wide range of approaches and products.

Visionist was founded in 2001 by Jiri Koivuniemi who has "been working with information technology, consumer electronics, video games and music business for over 20 years." Visionist's work includes marketing but though they say they are a PR agency they have a broader and deeper range of collaborative relationships and projects than one might expect.

One of their projects is hosting the newsletter of the Finnish Music Startups collective. Apparently Startup100 is also involved with getting the word out internationally.

The first English issue features:

SingOn

"SingOn was founded in 2009 and it aims to reinvent karaoke."

Ovelin

"The Finnish music gaming company Ovelin has released its praised and award-winning guitar learning game GuitarBots on the iPhone."

Soundical

"Soundical…develops innovative music games and applications for mobile devices."

Playmysong

"Playmysong is a jukebox application that really makes party music fun and social."

Mubik

"Mubik Entertainment has launched a new version of the Mubik Musical Puzzle game."

See the Finnish Music Startups page for the rest of the collective's members.

They also have a Facebook page.

The newsletter doesn't have a signup form so it looks like you'll need to write Jiri Koivuniemi at the following email address to receive it: jiri(at)visionist(dot)fi

Keep in mind that they only put it out when there's news they wish to share and so it may appear on an irregular schedule.
