Gigmit Helps Connect Musicians and Promoters Beyond Its Berlin Startup Base

Gigmit-artist-page-marc-hypeGigmit is a fairly new gig booking platform based in Berlin but serving a wider region. They're bringing together promoters for local venues with artists and booking agencies who wish to get shows. But Gigmit offers more than just support connecting two parties, it's also a platform to manage one's related business with some distinctive features such as digital contracts.

Founder Marcus Rüssel launched Gigmit in late 2012 as a project of Get a Gig GmbH according to a Gigmit rep:

"Marcus Rüssel, who came up with the idea, studied and worked in the field of culture and event management, so he's worked with bands and clubs and he saw a lack of a tool to facilitate the booking process. Everything now with promotion and so on is technology-based, and why can't booking be too?"

"So he founded 'Get A Gig GmbH'…After over half a year, the portal gigmit.com was launched."

On Gigmit artists set up pages or EPKs about themselves that includes social media account followings for promoters. They can search for posted opportunities and accept contact from promoters.

Promoters can post gigs, search artist pages and accept applications.

Gigmit not only handles that process but offers contracts that can be siged online. Business and ongoing contact can all be handled through Gigmit.

A free tier is available but Premium tiers are fairly priced with an additional "8% commission on the net artist fee for successful bookings" charged to all promoters.

Gigmit has an Explore page for discovery of acts using the platform. This means that over time they could add a fan component but they're smart to be focusing on a two-sided market since that alone can be pretty tough.
