image from www.billboard.comWant to know want new track the twittersphere is going gaga about right this very minute? Soon you can, thanks to a Billboard and Twitter new partnership to create the "Billboard Twitter Real-Time Charts". Joining the magazine's 200 other charts (yes, there really are that many Official Billboard Charts), these will track the top songs discussed and shared on Twitter both in real-time and over an extended period, as well as, those of up and coming acts.

The charts are scheduled to launch "in the coming weeks" on Billboard.com and syndicated to other sites.

"Twitter is where the music of the moment is discovered and discussed – every day, new songs and new artists are breaking on the platform,” Bob Moczydlowsky, Twitter’s head of music said of the announcement. “We’re partnering with Billboard to create a ground-breaking chart to track the conversation around music as it happens. This means when artists share songs and engage with their audience on Twitter, the buzz they create will now be visible."
