You have many options when it comes to apps that want to help you find live music to see, wherever you happen to find yourself. While it’s not the most comprehensive one we’ve seen, Music Punk has a big difference: It should you video of the bands playing live, so you can determine whether they are horrible, amazing, or somewhere in between when it comes to taking the stage.

Music Punk (Android, iOS free) works in the United States and United Kingdom, by asking bands to add their show information to the site and app. The company also adds some of that information manually. Then, like all of its competition, Music Punk shows you the live music events scheduled for the next few days in your area.

“It goes by GPS and tells you how far the venue is, and the best part is, you can watch the live performance video of the band that is actually playing at the venue, so you’re not taking the chance of getting to the venue and not liking what you see,” explained Music Punk co-founder Zack Yildiz. “Most of the videos are put there by the bands themselves, so they get to choose the best representation of their live performance, and they can put it right here — it only takes them about 20 or 30 seconds to add a show, and it’s live, automatically, in the app and on the website.”

It’s unclear how many people are using this relatively new app so far, but bands looking to promote their shows everywhere they can might still want to use his form to submit their shows.
