Black Keys Top Michael Jackson As This Week’s Best Seller

Black Keys logoThe Black Keys brought rock and roll back to the top of the charts this week with their new album "Turn Blue, which sold 164,000 copies. While it's band’s third Top 10 album, it’s their first time at #1. "El Camino" reached #2 in 2011 and "Brothers" peaked at #3 in 2010. Michael Jackson’s second posthumous album, Xscape, also sold well this week, tallying 157,000 copies.

MJ"Both Jackson and The Black Keys exceeded industry expectations, and with a full week of sales following Jackson’s buzzed-about hologram performance at the Billboard Music Awards, Xscape should continue to sell well next week," says James Donio, President of Music Biz of this week’s sales report issued by Nielsen and published by Billboard.

Country superstars Rascal Flatts also impacted the charts, landing at #5 with 61,000 copies sold of Rewind, and Dolly Parton scored her best-charting solo record of all time with a sixth-place finish for Blue Smoke, which sold 37,000 copies.

"Next week will see the debut of Coldplay’s Ghost Stories, meaning we could see a one-two punch of rock at the chart’s summit,” says Donio.
