TuneCore Names Scott Ackerman CEO

tunecore(UPDATED) TuneCore has promoted Scott Ackerman to CEO. Akerman joined the indie digital distributor in 2010 as COO; and was promoted to CEO in 2012 after a messy exit by top execs including co-founders Jeff Price and Peter Wells.

Press and Wells went on to found YouTube tracker Audiam, raising $2 million.

Ackerman has led the company into new markets and promises more expansion. The company launched TuneCore Japan, and recently partnered with KKBOX, the largest provider of digital music subscription services in Asia.

In Q1 2014, TuneCore paid out $34.1 million to artists in revenue generated from nearly 1.3 billion downloads and streams, a 75% increase over the same period in 2013.
