Facebook’s Teen Exodus May Have Been Grossly Exaggerated [New Stats]

image from upload.wikimedia.orgAfter months of 'conclusive data' that teens were using Facebook far less often and spending more time elsewhere, a new survey from a respected source shows something entirely different. A Forrester Research survey of 4,517 teens put Facebook clearly ahead of their social media competitors.

Teen use of Facebook is far greater than any other service except YouTube; and 28% of teens use it exclusively. Increased mobile usage should consider to continue the trend, according to the survey.

As today’s 12- and 13-year-olds grow into 16- and 17-year-olds, it’s likely their Facebook adoption will increase further,” the researchers told the Wall Street Journal. “Since Facebook’s CFO admitted in 2013 that young teens were visiting the site slightly less frequently, most marketers have accepted as fact that teens are fleeing the site en masse. But that’s simply not true.”
