Jack White Debuts At #1, Vinyl Edition Contributes 30% Of Sales

image from ticketnews.eventim.co.ukJack White's new album "Lazaretto" sold 138,000 copies this week to hit #1 on the Nielson Billboard charts. Impressively, a special vinyl edition which includes a hologram image when spun accounted for nearly 30% of total sales with 40,000 copies.

"It breaks the previous record for one-week vinyl sales held by Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy since 1994," writes James Donio, President of Music Biz. "In fact, if you strip out CD, digital and all other sales, White’s vinyl numbers alone would have been good enough for fourth place."

"It’s an incredible accomplishment that proves there is an appetite for physical formats, especially for artists who go the extra mile to offer something truly unique. Next week’s chart appears set to be crowded with debuts, as high profile artists Lana Del Rey, Linkin Park, Jennifer Lopez, Willie Nelson, Sam Smith, and Deadmau5 all impact with new albums.”
