Music Publishers’ Association Joins Indie Music YouTube Battle

image from www.completemusicupdate.comThe UK’s Music Publishers’ Association (MPA) has joined the growing chorus of music industry trade groups that support independent music community's ongoing battle with Google's YouTube over heavy handed negotiations and the deal being offered for their upcoming streaming music service.

“If companies such as Google are now acting in the role of cultural gatekeepers, whether by accident or by design, they must bear some responsibility to not act against the interests of the creators upon whose labour large parts of their business are built,” said MPA CEO Sarah Osborn.

In the U.S., the American Association Of Independent Music is leading the charge.
