Microsoft To Spin Off Nokia’s MixRadio

image from i.nokia.comMicrosoft is spinning off it's Nokia MixRadio streaming music app into a standalone company. The announcement is of deep cuts at the parent company.  If the free Pandora like service can survive the move financially the split might be good for MixRadio. The app will still be preloaded on smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone software, but can now also have expand to Apple's iOS and Google's Android.

"Basically, we’re planning a spin-off," MixRadio head Jyrki Rosenberg told the Guardian. "I’ve been meeting with potential investors around the world in the last few weeks. We have very strong interest from investors in the US, Europe and Asia, and we remain open for further discussions."
