Wolfgang’s Vault Bringing 12,000 More Concert Videos To YouTube Channel

Music-vault-logoWolfgang's Vault is a memorabilia and merch store that has long included streaming audio of live shows via its Concert Vault. In the spring they added Music Vault, a YouTube channel that features both full concerts and single live songs from the late 70s to today. While their website tends to focus on the late 60s through the 70s, Music Vault reveals what appears to be a larger range of related music. Now Music Vault is adding 12,000 more live videos to YouTube.

Wolfgang's Vault is well-established in the merch and memorabilia space. Their Concert Vault features related audio and some video for subscribers.

In April they began posting on YouTube as Music Vault with such subcategories as Legendary Drummers, Best of the Grateful Dead and Leading Ladies of Rock. They were said to have started off with 1000 videos on YouTube.

This Is Music Vault

Now they're adding 12,000 more and planning a regular schedule of curated platlists and new videos.

I'm not sure when they started but right now there's a huge batch of videos that were uploaded earlier this morning. The range struck me as wider than what Concert Vault offers. It turns out that Daytrotter and Paste Magazine are also involved so that may explain some of that reach.

Music Vault's content editor Bill Antonucci stated:

"After two years restoring, transferring, mixing and mastering thousands of tapes from our enormous archive, we’re thrilled and extremely proud to share this massive treasure with the YouTube music community."

This may be unpleasant news for Qello, which has been streaming concert films and music documentaries behind a paywall, but it's great news for those who like to dig through the musical archives for golden nuggets like this video of Roger Daltrey getting aggro with a pair of tambourines.
