The public effort by independent music trade groups on both sides of the Atlantic seems to have had an impact. Merlin is said to be leading the negotiations on behalf of the indies.
Trade groups WIN, Impala, A2IM and others have asked their respective trade commissions to investigate and block any moves by Google and YouTube to intimidate or harm member labels.
Now the Finacial Times is reporting that YouTube's plans have been put on temporary hold, while talks to satisfy the hodlouts. This week a YouTube spokesperson put the holdouts at less than 5% of the labels it serves.
