Bop.fm Tipping Point: Pandora, Xbox Music, Rhapsody and Napster Added

Bopfm-logoBop.fm specializes in "service-agnostic playlists" allowing you to send a song link to a friend who can listen to it without having the same music service subscriptions that you have. Starting out as a somewhat better variation on overlapping trends, Bop.fm has steadily added key music streaming services from Spotify to Deezer. Now they're covering most of the possibilities with the addition of Pandora as well as Xbox Music, Rhapsody and Napster.

Bop.fm – The "Switzerland of Digital Music"

Bop.fm has come a long way in a relatively short time. They launched out of beta in December 2013 with service-agnostic playlists offering access to music via YouTube, SoundCloud, Rdio and Spotify. In addition to what could be called smart links, Bop.fm also launched with an embeddable music player and shareable playlists.

Given licensing concerns at the time, the fact that Bop.fm launched with Rdio and Spotify rather than just YouTube and SoundCloud was a solid beginning. They've gone on to add Beats Music and Deezer. They've also added sales links via iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.

This week Bop.fm announced the integration of Pandora, Xbox Music, Rhapsody, and Napster. Together they represent an even larger pool of potential users with Pandora being the obvious prize.

In addition, Bop.fm revealed that over 50 million songs have been streamed using their service.

Bop.fm for Music Marketing

image from www.hypebot.comIn addition to improving Bop.fm with features like Playlist Grabber, which allows you to import playlists, Bop.fm recently added Verified Artist Pages. Artists are also finding ways to use Bop.fm for marketing campaigns.

Bop.fm added Verified Artist Pages in July. As you can see from Christina Perri's page, her music is featured along with playlists, related artists and tour dates.

Perri also used Bop.fm smart links to market her "Human" remix EP. Manager Ryan Chisholm stated:

"We decided to market Christina Perri’s new ‘Human’ remix EP using Bop.fm because Christina has such a large international audience that consumes music on several different platforms. By sharing Bop links on our Facebook and Twitter pages, fans were able to seamlessly and immediately hear the songs via their preferred service."

"In this digital age, insight and analytics allow us to gain a deeper understanding of our audience and Bop was kind enough to share a rather detailed report that tracked each of our posts."

Other verified artists include Alison Kraus, Keith Urban, Kenny G., Paul McCartney and Snoop Dogg.
