Who Still Buys Music In 2014? [INFOGRAPHIC]

image from yewknee.comUPDATED: Even with the plethora of free and almost free music along with the zillion track libraries available to anyone willing to shell out just $5 – $10 a month, there still some people that pay for music. I'm one of those who buys to support my favorite musicians, but who else? MusicWatch with just 10 years ago. They conducted online surveys of 5,000 music buyers ages 13 and up in both 2004 and 2014. Here are their findings:

  1. Some of these are really interesting, like the gender demographics in digital sales and the +50 CD sales. It’ll be interesting to see how the younger generations shape things in another 10 years.

  2. according to this, digital purchases by men have dropped 13% over the last 10 years while at the same time they’ve increased by 13% among women. cd purchases by gender haven’t change significantly for either men or women. strange.

  3. I’m glad to see it hasn’t changed that much. It’s so important to continue to support our favorite artists if we want to continue to have the music we enjoy made. Whether that be through buying music online, physical CD’s or through fundraiser sights.
