Apple Unveils iTunes 12: Major Redesign, New Features

available on iTunesIt's been almost 2 years since Apple released iTunes 11, so expectations were high for the unveiling of iTunes 12.  While there are some major changes, users won't find anything radical in iTunes 12, but its all wrapped in a redesigned package that more closely resembles Apple's current design sensibilities. the release coincides with the debut of Apple's OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

iTunes 12 has a sleek new look and seems fatser and easier to use. Users will find playlisting simpler and its much easier to switch between browsing a music library and to the iTunes Store. A new Recents view makes it easy to access the media that has just been purchased or recently played.

Family Sharing, so family members can now browse and download each other’s iTunes, iBooks or Mac App Store purchases has been added.

  1. Wish I had not upgraded. Can’t find ipod on screen. Not able to transfer playlists from iTunes playlists to ipod, Very difficult to use. Not clear at all.

  2. iTunes 12 doesn’t seem to have information anymore about what is being updated in an app in the App Update screen, which is annoying. I like to know if new features have been added.
